Dr. Debra Creel is the Headmaster of the Academy of Science and Technology, a position she has held since 2023. During her 23 years in education, Debra has been a classroom teacher, counselor and administrator.
Conroe ISD has been home to Debra for the majority of her career, where she served as College Park High School’s College and Career Counselor from the inaugural Class of 2007 through the Class of 2023. Prior to College Park, Dr. Creel served as a counselor in Alief ISD after spending several years as a nationally ranked high school Speech and Debate Coach and public speaking teacher in the Central Texas and North Texas areas. Debra earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Texas, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. During her time at SHSU, Debra’s research in the areas of post-secondary education, access and equity to advanced coursework opportunities, and first-generation college students was published in both academic and professional journals as well as a chapter in a book focused on various types of statistical analyses.
In her spare time, Debra enjoys spending time with her family and friends, listening to podcasts, reading just about any type of book or academic journal, and chasing after her mischievous Goldendoodle, Gus.
